Day 1 was fun and exciting. Isaac defined a new word for skiing, he called it "skeeting" instead. He was thrilled to learn how to skeet. He didn't want to take his boots or ski clothes off! Sophia took to it a second time around like a pro and immediately went to the chairlift. Lily was not too sure, she didn't want much to do with the snow unless she was shoveling it into her bucket. Dave and I made many "Miller Time" stops due to the icey and hard snow-packed conditions. Skiing in New England is like going to the beach in Cape Cod, rocky and cold!!! No offense to our New England friends. Although it wasn't too cold, actually between 11am and 2pm skiing was pretty decent. That night we decided to eat dinner at The Common Man restaurant, which was awesome food but the kids were terrible! The biggest joke of the day was that Dave couldn't figure out how to turn the shower on, he kept turning on the bathtub instead...and I asked him to ask the man in the Loon Mt jacket (that was literally standing in front of him) for directions to the kids ski school, and he couldn't seem to see the man (literally standing in front of him!) Our highlight today was a downhill ski and snowboard worship service, which started on a summit and then we actually skiied to two different locations, one for a sermon and one for a photo. It was awesome. The pastor was an awesome skier - he put his black robe on and we skied down the hill following him, I wasn't sure if I were following the Flying Nun or the Flying Batman...we determined that everyone, everywhere at everytime needs God...it was unconventional and awesome and we loved it! Pastor Skip you rock!!!
Day 2 was good with the kids getting off to a good start and we hit the slopes early. Dinner was another matter, the kids were again in rare form and the Loon Mountain Club gameroom left alot to be desired!
Day 3 was St. Patty's Day and the mountain was one rockin' party. A group of local college kids dressed in green, dyed their hair green and used celtic flags as capes...we even say a Gorilla, a Leprechan and Scooby Doo enjoying a mice mountain run...The kids had so much fun. Lily loved seeing the 'Monkey' and even got her skiis on twice. Isaac decided he didn't like the big hill afterall and stuck to the little kiddie area, and Sophia got brave and hit the green and blues and even road the gondola to the summit! We were so proud!
It was a fun family time away...we had the usual family spats and squabbles, but all in all it was a lot of fun! Enjoy the photos (and the video)!
